The problem
People were curious but hesitant. They met a new navigation, a new Home, Copilot, agents and notebooks all at once, and weren’t sure what any of it could do or where it stopped.
What we learned
We assumed the challenge was navigation. Research said otherwise: people could learn the interface, but they didn’t understand the product. Many saw Copilot and the app around it as two separate things. Animation helped show where things live, but not why it matters.

What I designed
Just enough to begin
So I designed the first run to teach one clear mental model, with just enough context to start exploring. A short tour that points to real places, steps aside when you want to explore on your own, and waits in Settings if you want it back.
01
Guide without blocking
02
Teach places, in context
03
Skip anytime, come back later
04
Don’t make onboarding tell the whole story
first-run click-through
Reducing friction mattered more than adding information. Simplifying onboarding lifted click-through by 50%, and the new app shipped worldwide in 2025. Team results; I led the design behind them.
